LA ROUX Live at Reading Hexagon

Following the recent Pan-European volcano dramas, La Roux finally got round to taking the ‘Gold’ tour to the Reading Hexagon, a venue better known in the past for snooker finals!

With a large number of teeny boppers now discovering the joys of electronic pop, the security shrewdly let the very young kids over the barrier which was very sensible and safe. Elly Jackson entered onto stage wearing a long robe like a boxing champ and started off with the brilliant ‘Tigerlily’. This soon came off to reveal a nice white jacket as she danced about the stage.

The show proceeded as expected with most of the album including the addition of ‘Growing Pains’ and a Rolling Stones cover ‘Under My Thumb’. However, Elly’s recent claim that she has started playing guitar again was no idle threat… it has become reality! But it was a nice acoustic interlude with Elly playing the iTunes bonus track ‘Saviour’

Moving on, she continued on her merry way to a nice finish before returning in a gold lame jacket with ‘Bulletproof’ for the encore. This went down really well with the majority of the very young crowd. Everybody joined in and she even held the mic out Simple Minds style!

Finally ending with ‘Fascination’ which was also well sung with participation from the crowd, she did apologise for having the date re-arranged but whatever, it was very good. A great night had by all!
