The L-Word Three Years On

It was over three years ago that the mainstream press were getting excited about the new prospects for 2009 who were female, electro and had a name beginning with an ‘L’! Caroline Sullivan’s now prophetic article in The Guardian Slaves To Synth highlighted the rise of female fronted acts such as LITTLE BOOTS, LA ROUX, LADYHAWKE and LADY GAGA in Autumn 2008.

As the synthesizer became the ideal instrument for the aspirational independent young woman, this was a delightful period when record companies turned their back on dreary male guitar bands! But where are we now? More inside »
