Richard James Burgess is the renowned record producer who famously coined the term 'New Romantic'. His triumphs from that era include the brilliant 12 inch Special Mix of The Freeze and the glorious neo-classicism of Musclebound by SPANDAU BALLET.

The Islington quintet's earlier, more electronic sounding work was all produced by Burgess. A winner of numerous production awards, his book The Art Of Music Production is an international best seller. More inside »

The Electricity Club are pleased to say that another band it has championed MIRRORS will be the support act on the European leg of the tour of OMD's forthcoming History of Modern tour.

Singer James New had actually revealed the news to The Electricity Club after their brilliant show at Madame JoJo's but TEC had to keep this under wraps until official confirmation. OMD's Andy McCluskey is a big fan of MIRRORS so they are a natural choice as opening band.

London electro clubnight Bedsitland celebrated its second birthday at The Buffalo Bar in Highbury Corner with a live set by THE MODERN.

Now, any band that has a keyboardist named Chi is fine in The Electricity Club's book but primarily playing a set of new material, they showed the promise that was evident when they supported HEAVEN 17 at The Scala in late 2005. More inside »

New Singles Round-up

As one of the first UK music websites to champion the duo, The Electricity Club is pleased to announce that VILLA NAH will be the support act on the UK leg of OMD's forthcoming History Of Modern tour.

The Helsinki duo's debut album Origin is one of the best albums of 2010 and its crisply melodic synthesized sound, coupled with a touch of Nordic melancholia, has been steadily gaining a host of admirers. Like OMD crossed with A-HA, or even GARY NUMAN on Prozac, songs such as Remains Of Love, Ways To Be, Autumn Gone, Some Kind Of Dream and Envelope showcase the quality of VILLA NAH's dreamily glacial electronic pop. HOWARD JONES Interview

TEC

HOWARD JONES is often thought of as the one man musical mastermind of synth-pop but when looked at fully, he's so much more than that.

His journey started in the early 80's when his infectiously catchy and optimistic New Song emerged onto the radio waves. He quickly grabbed the eyes, ears, and hearts of the electronic world partly due to his energetic and elaborate one man stage shows, originally including the talent of mime artist Jed Hoile. But also, there was his knack for writing passionate, sincere, and often uplifting lyrics heard in such numbers as Life In One Day, Nothing to Fear, and Everlasting Love.

BILLIE GODFREY Interview

TEC

Billie Godfrey has been an integral part of HEAVEN 17's live line-up since their 'comeback' supporting ERASURE in 1997. Oozing charm and sensuality, Billie's obvious on-stage chemistry with lead vocalist Glenn Gregory has been a wonderfully entertaining aspect to any HEAVEN 17 show.

Her interpretation of the classic Temptation (a 'Versions 08' reworking of which is included on the album Naked As Advertised) has brought the song into the 21st Century while still retaining its soulful passion. Her voice has also provided a powerful human counterpoint to some of the more electronic material on this year's Penthouse and Pavement tour. More inside »
