MARSHEAUX TO PLAY TEC002

The Electricity Club is pleased to announce that Athens synth maidens MARSHEAUX will be headlining its second live event TEC002 on SUNDAY 29TH APRIL 2012. Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou will be performing an hour long set including tracks from their new album which will be released via GermanyÍs Out Of Line in Europe and their parent label Undo Records in Greece.
With their last three albums E-Bay Queen
, Peek a Boo
and Lumineux Noir
, MARSHEAUX have gained a devoted following with a number of prominent admirers. THE HUMAN LEAGUE played their track What a Lovely Surprise
in the pre-show music for the Steel City tour while BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson and Stuart Maconie have also praised their work. Only a prior gig commitment prevented them from accepting an invitation to open for PET SHOP BOYS in Athens during the Autumn of 2009.
MARSHEAUX have however played prestigious support slots for OMD, ROISIN MURPHY and CLIENT. OMD’s Andy McCluskey himself said: "I do have a soft spot for MARSHEAUX I have to say. They have a certain sort of wispy, melancholic charm…î The girlsÍ most recent single Can You Stop Me? merged the percussive template of FEVER RAY with their own distinctive electropop sound. It is fine taster for their forthcoming album and the song is already a favourite of The Blitz ClubÍs legendary DJ Rusty Egan.
TEC002 takes place at The Ballyhoo, 36-38 New Oxford Street, London WC1A 1E. This prestigious music venue is only a short walk from Tottenham Court Road tube station (Northern and Central Line) and situated near the retail heartland of London. It will be MARSHEAUX’s first London gig since 2009 and is sure to be one of the highlights of this yearÍs electronic music calendar. The support act will be announced soon while The Electricity Club will have several special features on MARSHEAUX in the lead up to TEC002.
