SynthFest UK takes place in Sheffield on the 7th of October (10:30am – 6:30pm) and has been created by Sound On Sound magazine to give companies of all sizes an opportunity to showcase their synth products in front of the public in what promises to be a great day out for all musicians, whether a pro, semi-pro or hobbyist.
The event features a Manufacturers’ Showcase Village, Modular Meet Camp and related retailers alongside a programme of Q&A Sessions and Seminars.
The Seminar Programme will include Deconstructing the Dr Who Theme: In recognition of what would have been Delia Derbyshire’s 80th birthday, current members of the Radiophonic Workshop will discuss her iconic theme music and demonstrate how it was created. Daphne Oram was the co-founder and first director of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and is credited with the invention of a new form of ‘drawn sound’ synthesis – Oramics.
Plus roundtable talks including Martyn Ware & Adrian Utley and Steve Levine & Hannah Peel.
