A rare chance to see artists whose music has been re-released by Light in the Attic on their 16th anniversary, with Haruomi Hosono's first UK show of solo work and a reunion performance by Acetone.
First, there’s Haruomi Hosono, one of the few Pop musicians to whom the word ‘innovative’ truly applies. A founding member of the influential Folk Rock band Happy End and pioneering Electronic music trio Yellow Magic Orchestra with Ryuichi Sakamoto, he anticipated trends in Exotica, Ambient and video game music in his almost five decade career. Yet, he’s never before played his solo work in the UK, until tonight, as he performs material from across his career with his band.
Crossing the Pacific for the second half is a reunion performance from Acetone. Drawing from the blissed-out Surf Rock of the Beach Boys and the Psych-Country of Gram Parsons, Acetone were the sound of Southern California, from acrid sidewalk to airy beaches. Largely overlooked during their time, this concert marks their first UK performance since the tragic death of founding member Richie Lee, as guitarist Mark Lightcap and drummer Steve Hadley revisit their material along with Senon Williams and Jason Yates.
