121030_Chvrches_045Glaswegian trio CHVRCHES continue their ascent with a brand new video for their single ‘Recover’. The promo is a stupendous Sci-Fi adventure with the band cleverly only appearing obliquely to create tension and anticipation…

Some expressed disappointment at the saccharine nature of the last single ‘The Mother We Share’ but The Electricity Club found it really was a grower and actually ended up liking it more than ‘Lies’, the punchy first single which started all the buzz in the first place! If ‘The Mother We Share’ was perhaps a bit TAYLOR SWIFT gone electro, ‘Recover’ is more PURITY RING meets THE KNIFE and likely to win the sceptics back.

At their recent London gig at The ICA, music fans travelled from Russia and Germany to be there, several paying upwards of £60 on the black market for the privilege. Such hype can destroy a band but luckily CHVRCHES have the songs and an extended set certainly made the journey worthwhile. One of those in attendance was Roberta Fidora of CURXES who have contributed the ‘1996 Remix’ which also appears on the 12 inch vinyl release of ‘Recover’.

With each release and show, CHVRCHES are living up to expectations and having signed to Virgin Records, world domination now beckons as tours in the US and Japan are now on the radar. TEC cannot wait to get its CHVRCHES live fix on 29th April at London’s Village Underground.

chvrches-recoverThe ‘Recover EP’ is released by Virgin Records and available as a download single via the usual digital outlets from 25th March 2013. It features two new songs ‘Zvvl’ and ‘Now Is Not The Time’ as well as remixes by CURXES and CID RIM. The limited edition 12 inch vinyl is available from 20th April 2013 as part of the annual Record Store Day celebrations
